Raised in rural Germany, where she was inspired by her wonder of the natural world, Maike's prodigious talent as a painter was recognised and encouraged by her family and tutors at an early age.
Before leaving school she seemed destined for a life as a professional artist, but parental concerns over the stability of a painting career eventually led her to pursue more practical studies and a successful career in business.

Even while carving out a name for herself in the boardroom, Maike's passion for art never left her. In every spare moment she continued her art education; visiting galleries and learning techniques from a wide network of artist friends.
Today, Maike is focused on producing beautiful, memorable and original artworks. She draws her subjects from the interplay of light, landscape and emotion in the locations she loves best; the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, the Kent coastline, the cityscapes of London, New York and Hamburg, amongst others, and the mountains of northern Portugal.
